Moving to a new neighborhood can be thrilling and scary all at the same time. As you start your journey in a new
location, you may wonder about getting along with new neighbors or how to make the transition to your new home
smoothly.

These feelings are normal and taking a few extra steps can help you to settle into your new spot nicely.

Get to know your new neighbors

After moving into your new home, take time connecting with your new neighbors. You can start small by making
conversation with your neighbors if they’re passing by outside. After introducing yourself, you can make small talk
and try to find similar interests.

This is a great way to make new friends, which can help you feel more comfortable in your new neighborhood. It’s also
a way to find trustworthy folks to watch over the property if anything were to happen.

Map out your new neighborhood routine

As you settle into your new space, take some time to map out the neighborhood to find the best routes to spots you’ll
be using regularly.

This may include the local grocery stores, pet shops, restaurants and more. In doing so, you’ll learn more about your
new community and it will help ease some of the anxiety you may feel about finding your way around.

Serve your community

Many communities are served by local nonprofits working to improve the well-being of the neighborhood. This may
include food pantries, neighborhood watch groups, park clean up and other activities.

Joining such groups is a great way to meet community members and serve your time positively.

Moving can be intimidating, however doing a little research on your neighborhood and reaching out to community
members for support can help ease the transition.
